TOWIE’s Dan Osbourne said he feels like he may have become ‘distant’ with people in his life as a result of his boxing training.
The father of three took part in Boxing With The Stars on Saturday 2 October, where he went up against former Love Islander Jamie Jewitt.
Dan proved victorious against his fellow reality TV star, and described sharing the ring with him as ‘an absolute pleasure’.
He wrote on Instagram yesterday, 3 October: “Thank you to everyone else that has helped me through training/sparring etc, you guys know who you are. The guys in my corner on the night, thank you all so much! I was real nervous at times before the fight & you guys helped calm me down massively!”
Speaking of Jamie, Dan continued: “A massive well done to @jamiejewitt. Was an absolute pleasure sharing the ring with such a top bloke!”
While Dan’s training obviously paid off, the months of preparation he endured didn’t come without its difficulties.
Speaking to OK! about being a family man and making time to see his children while training, he said: “A lot of my training, because of work and of the kids, I’ve had to do at night, and then leaving them and not being able to put them to bed at night and stuff like that. I miss it.“
“I’ve not been there a lot,” Dan continued. “Do you know what it is more than anything? Mentally, this sport, when you know you’re going to fight in an arena, it’s just in your head, so, without even meaning it, I’ve probably been slightly different and distant with a lot of people in my life to be honest. [Boxing] had taken over.”
The 30 year old added that he had mainly been talking to his trainer Spencer Oliver every day.
In regards to his three children, Teddy, 7, Ella, 6, and Mia, 3, who he shares with former Eastenders star Jacqueline Jossa, he said prior to Saturday’s event that they wouldn’t be watching the match live, but it was likely they would watch it back later.
Dan also joked that he’d try to get the footage removed if he lost, but fortunately for him, that didn’t end up being the case.
