Here’s Where You Know To All The Boys: Always And Forever’s Trevor From

Rom-com lovers, prepare yourself for the emotional end to this modern love story. The third and final chapter of Netflix’s romantic comedy series To All the Boys: Always and Forever is dropping this February. Although fans are gearing up to say goodbye to fictional couple Lara Jean Song Covey and Peter Kavinsky — played by Lana Condor and Noah Centineo — the impact that this film series has had on the entertainment industry will last for a long time (via IMDb).

Based on author Jenny Han’s popular book series of the same name, it seems like your typical teen love story at first glance, but has really paved the way for representation. Not only does the To All the Boys series feature a diverse cast, its lead actress is of Vietnamese descent which is a rarity in Hollywood, according to Teen Vogue.

What makes the Netflix series a fan-favorite is the fact that all of the characters have great chemistry together, including the friendship and family dynamics. In fact, Ross Butler, who plays heartthrob Peter’s best friend Trevor Pike, is one of the breakout stars from the series because of his comedic timing and real-life relationship with Centineo, which transfers seamlessly to the screen, per EW. This isn’t the first time you’ve seen Butler’s work before either.

Before he was Trevor, Butler appeared in two major Netflix and CW series simultaneously

Ross Butler has been drawn to a lot of teen series over the years. Before he played Trevor in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel To All the Boys: P.S. I Love You, Butler appeared in a number of popular teen dramas. He’s best known for his breakout role in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. Butler stars as high school jock Zach Dempsey in the hit series, who is listed as one of the main catalysts for Hannah Baker’s death, and has been a part of the show since its first season (via Distractify).

Although Butler plays a pivotal role, he almost missed out due to his conflicting schedule. He actually played a high school jock for another teen drama at the same time. Butler, who starred as Reggie Mantle in Riverdale, made the decision to end his brief role when 13 Reasons Why was picked up for a second season, according to Teen Vogue.

He's played a superhero before

Butler nabbed an important role in the 2019 superhero film Shazam! as the adult version of Eugene Choi (via Variety). Despite already juggling parts in multiple shows, he used this movie opportunity to branch out, which speaks volumes to his drive and talent as an actor.

His decision paid off big time. The DC Comics movie earned $366 million worldwide, making it one of their most successful films to date, according to Screen Rant. The accolades don’t stop there. Shazam! also made the list as the 54th highest grossing superhero movie of all time, per Forbes.

Ross Butler only appears in the movie for a short, albeit important scene. However, fans loved his character so much that it’s rumored he will have a bigger role in the upcoming sequel, according to Micky. The sequel was supposed to start filming in 2020, but was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Butler also guest-starred in an iconic MTV series and played opposite Zendaya in a Disney series

Butler has a talent for picking successful projects with a huge following. In 2016, he guest-starred in MTV’s Teen Wolf, a reboot of the ’80s cult classic film (via IMDb). He appeared in three episodes of the hit show as lacrosse player Nathan, who is skeptical of the supernatural world, according to MTV.

While Butler is no stranger to playing the popular guy/athlete trope, his incredible focus and acting skills bring a fresh perspective to each of his characters. One of his earlier projects was a departure from his role as an athlete. From 2015-17, Ross Butler appeared on Disney’s widely popular action comedy K.C. Undercover, with Zendaya playing the lead role.

Playing a fellow spy and the antagonist of the series, he also starred as Zendaya’s love interest. Butler had a positive experience with K.C. Undercover, and reflected on his relationship with the actress-singer in a 2018 Instagram post. He wrote, “I am so proud and gracious to have been able to work with the wonderful @zendaya. She is nothing short of an exemplary role model for girls everywhere and I’m so excited to see what she does next. Much love, Z. Hope our paths will cross again soon.”
