Im A Celeb bosses install robots to guard castle grounds and deter intruders

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here bosses have reportedly installed bulletproof robots into the castle grounds to deter intruders.

The security systems that are said to look like a Doctor Who Tardis on legs are designed to keep people out of the area, as they’re equipped with cameras, sensors, sirens and flashing lights.

ITV have reportedly been worried about the public, pranksters or even criminals trying to enter the castles while the celebrities film the hit show over the next few weeks.

The bosses are said to have installed these 4 foot robots, known as Armadillos, to scare off any unwanted visitors.

The UK police often use these technological guards as once they detect movement they trigger blinding flashing lights.

Along with these expensive sentries, ITV are said to have another six levels of security around Gwrych Castle. From ID badges, to patrolling guards, bosses are pulling out all the stops to make sure no one gets through to wear the celebrities are camping out.

The castle is also surrounded by layers of high fences and security staff patrol the perimeter during the night to shine lights to check for intruders in the trees.

A source told The Sun: “The Armadillo is the leading piece of security kit available in the UK. It looks like something out of Doctor Who, but if you came face to face with it you’d c**p your pants.

“It can emit a deafening alarm 16 times as loud as a car starting. It would cause anyone close to it some serious discomfort.

“Its lights would startle even the most accomplished of criminals and its sensors won’t miss a thing.

“ITV bosses are confident that even just the presence of the Armadillo, let alone the other layers of security, should be enough to keep Ant and Dec and everyone else safe.”

OK! has contacted ITV for a comment.

The reports of a drastic increase in protection comes after a local woman slipped through security and got into the castle just days before filming began.

Emma Louise, 39, was driving by the area in her caravan with her partner Andrew, 36 when they decided to check out the castle.

The couple whizzed through the first ID checkpoint without a hitch and made it onto the set.

They visited the famous kiosk, Ye Olde Shoppe, along with trucks full of costumes, expensive camera equipment and even strolled through the famous castle walkway.

This is the second year that ITV bosses have swapped the location of sunny New South Wales in Australia for the Welsh castle after the global pandemic prevented celebrities from travelling in 2020.
