Following the news that Matt Hancock had resigned from his senior cabinet position, he could be set to face a grilling from Piers Morgan.

Piers, 56, has never shied away from his desires to question Hancock, who refused to appear on Good Morning Britain when the UK ploughed into lockdown in 2020.

However, it appears that fans now want Piers to reprise his role on Good Morning Britain to interrogate Hancock who admitted to breaching his own coronavirus lockdown rules.

Matt was seen kissing and hugging a senior aide who he hired during the pandemic, despite being married and urging Brits to keep a two-meter distance from other people.

In view of his 7.9 million Twitter followers, Piers shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp message from his younger brother, Rupert.

A friend of Rupert had messaged him following the news that Hancock had gone against his own guidance.

The message read: “I would give a kidney for your brother to interview him on GMB. Literally a kidney.”

Alongside the image, Piers penned: “Msg to my younger brother from one of his mates… To be honest, I’d give both kidneys & possibly a lung [sic].”

During the height of the pandemic, Mr Hancock urged Brits to remain two meters away from people, not to mix with other households and casual sex was banned.

Just hours go, Hancock addressed his actions, saying: “Those of us who make these rules have got to stick by them and that’s why I’ve got to resign.”

Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said he was “sad” to accept Matt’s resignation from the cabinet.

“We owe it to people who have sacrificed so much in this pandemic to be honest when we have let them down as I have done by breaching the guidance.”

Last night, Hancock said: “I accept that I breached the social distancing guidance in these circumstances, I have let people down and am very sorry.”

Mr Johnson said: “You should leave office very proud of what you have achieved — not just in tackling the pandemic, but even before COVID-19 struck us.”
