Stacey Dooley: Strictly star bombarded with messages over The Masked Singer claim

The Masked Singer: Badger receives a note from ‘Barbra’

Stacey Dooley took to Instagram and shared a sweet snap alongside her boyfriend and former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton. Fans have since flocked to the comment section and suggested that the documentary-filmmaker could be behind the mask of Sausage on The Masked Singer.

It comes after last week’s show provided a new set of clues for each remaining character.

One glaring hint for Sausage’s identity seemed to have come in the group opening performance, which saw the seven acts sing together.

Sausage sang the line: “They call me Stacey… that’s not my name,” in her part of That’s Not My Name by The Ting Tings.

With guesses so far having included Stacey and Loose Women panellist Stacey Solomon, many fans believe this was used to rule out both the TV favourites.

But this has not stopped fans from questioning if the BBC presenter is potentially behind the mask.

In view of her 938,000 followers, Stacey shared a seemingly innocent photo alongside Kevin.

The black and white snap captured the backs of the duo holding hands while on stage.

Stacey captioned the post with a simple heart emoji.

Many people inundated the comment section, as one wrote: “Are you Sausage?”

Another person replied: “I was thinking the exact same thing.”

“You must be sausage,” a third person commented, while another said: “I think you’ve got the wrong Stacey.”

A fourth social media user quipped: “Hey to Sausage and Badger,” in reference to the photo.

The cheeky comment comes as fans are also convinced that Kevin could potentially be Badger.

It comes following the semi-final of the competition, which saw Dragon unmasked as Sue Perkins and Harlequin as singer Gabrielle.

BBC Breakfast sports presenter Mike Bushell hinted that Kevin was behind Badger as he took to Twitter.

He tweeted: “Is it the one and only saviour @ChrisMoyles mot as badger?”(sic)

He added: “Sounds more like king @keviclifton?”

One user wrote: “Ok, lads, hear me out. Badger is Kevin Clifton from Strictly.”

Another added: “Badger is my home town boy, Kevin Clifton.”

A third agreed: “Why am [I] getting Kevin Clifton vibes from badger?”

The Masked Singer continues Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
