Twenty One Pilots frontman Tyler Joseph recently took to social media to inform fans that he will be releasing a new song soon.
Joseph said he has been busy writing new music during the lockdown as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Always writing, but this one feels like it should just come out now,” he tweeted. He also noted that it was the first song he wrote on electric guitar and described it as “simple but hopeful.”
Saying that it would take him a few more days to finish the song, Joseph added it is always good to have a deadline while doing something creative, but confessed he hates giving himself deadlines.
“A good rule of thumb is to never give yourself a deadline so tweeting about it kind of just added pressure, it’s not done yet,” he said.
Joseph indicated in a subsequent post that the new track will be released on Friday, tweeting on Thursday, “song and video tomorrow” along with a photo of a USB stick with the words “Level Of Concern” written on it.
Joseph intends to donate a part of the money the song generates to Live Nation’s Global Relief Fund for Live Music Crews, Crew Nation, to provide funds to behind the scenes technicians currently out of work due to the virus pandemic.
“No one knows when live music will get back on its feet,” he wrote.
“I’ve met so many amazing people working venues and touring with bands. Hopefully we can do something to help some through this song.”
Twenty One Pilots’ last album was Trench, released in October 2018.
