Diego Costa next club: Wolves slashed to ODDS-ON to favourites to sign ex-Chelsea star

WOLVES are now odds-on favourites to sign Diego Costa, according to the bookmakers.

The Premier League club were previously offered at 4/1 to sign the Brazilian-born Spanish international.

But a flurry of activity over the last 24 hours has seen Costa's odds of joining Wolves slashed to just 8/11.

The Midlands club are eager to sign a new centre-forward to provide cover for Raul Jimenez.

The Mexico icon suffered a horrific head injury against Arsenal in late November and subsequently underwent surgery on a fractured skull.

And with Jimenez still in the early stages of his rehabilitation – Nuno Espirito Santo has his sights on Costa.

The forward is a free agent having terminated his contract with Atletico Madrid.

The 32-year-old scored 83 goals and provided 36 assists in 215 appearances for the Spanish heavyweights.

And he's got plenty of experience in English football too having helped Chelsea to two Premier League titles during his three-season stay.

However, Wolves aren't the only club chasing his signature.

A lucrative move to China is priced at 4/1 with a return to his native Brazilian a fraction higher at 5/1.

Carlo Ancelotti's Everton are fourth in the market at 8/1 as they looks to bolster their attacking options with Dominic Calvert-Lewin now injured.

Arsenal are a double-figure 10/1 to bring their former nemesis Costa to the Emirates.

Relegation-threatened West Brom are the outsiders of the bunch at 20/1 with Sam Allardyce desperate to avoid the first relegation of his managerial career.

Coral’s John Hill said: "Some of the best years of Diego Costa’s career came with Chelsea and a return to the Premier League could now come with Wolves as the Brazilian has been linked with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

"The Brazilian striker is odds-on in our betting to sign a contract for the Midlands club over the next few weeks."
