Sweden may have been crowned champions of Eurovision but in many fans’ hearts there was clearly only one act who came out on top – presenter Hannah Waddingham.

The Ted Lasso star, 48, won a host of fans for her performance in the finals – with audiences at home and in Liverpool swooning at her mastery of French, lively dancing and witty banter.

Her presenting skills and joie de vivre left viewers begging for her to become a permanent Eurovision fixture, with one on Twitter writing: ‘My twelve points go to Hannah Waddingham.’

Another suggested: ‘Hannah Waddingham IS Eurovision’ after the actor presented alongside Graham Norton, Alesha Dixon and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina.

The star – who is five foot 11 – wore a lilac glittery dress with floaty arms that she at one point ‘flapped like a bird’ – with her tall heels adding even more to her height.

The actress styled her blonde tresses in a side part and neatly curled and opted for a sparkly eyeshadow look at the event in Liverpool. 

The host – best known for her role as tough football owner Rebecca Welton in the comedy series Ted Lasso – began winning fans in the semi finals, where she wore a custom gown by Suzanne Neville.

The actress, stunned viewers around the world as she spoke in fluent French to recite the contest’s rules at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.

Her co-presenters Alesha Dixon, 44, and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina, 32, had read from the teleprompter in English.

Impressed by Hannah’s abilities, one on Twitter joked, ‘Hannah Waddingham speaking French, Maybe I’m not gay.’

Another wrote: ‘People train their entire lives to be as effortlessly charismatic and likeable as Hannah Waddingham #eurovision.’

The final saw her win even more fans for her effortless performance, with some saying she was like ‘everyone’s mother’. 

One added on Twitter, ‘She was Eurovision,’ while another wrote, ‘We’ve all been united by a shared love of Hannah Waddingham.’
