Love Island's been keeping us entertained all summer long, with its contestants all pretty much becoming household names across the UK.

However, it's hard to image what they were actually like before they got the golden ticket from ITV2 and were flown out to Majorca for the reality dating show.

Its contestants were just like us mere mortals only a few months ago, working their 9-5 jobs and living normal lives.

As we all know, life after Love Island is a stark contrast to what it was before the show for its stars, with blue ticks and hundreds of thousands of followers offering them a whole new career in showbiz and social media influencing.

But what did the familiar faces of season seven actually work as before they were shot to stardom?

Faye Winter – Estate agent

One of this season's most fiery contestants, Faye used her gift of the gab daily in her real estate career.

The 25-year-old told ITV she adores her job working as a lettings manager.

She said: "I’m a lettings manager and I’ve got an amazing team.

"I go out and do valuations, win business for the company and I’ll do the odd viewing and find tenants. My main role is the sales side of things."

"I absolutely love it! I’ve actually only taken a sabbatical from work because in my ideal world, I’d love to go back to work."

Faye, who hails from Devon, also volunteers for Guide Dogs UK in her free time, but loves the buzz that comes with her real estate job, fancying herself as a Christine Quinn of England's south-west.

"I try to make it as Selling Sunset as possible. I’m definitely there in the mini dresses, boobs out, bum out, turning up and you can see the wives say to their husband, 'You’re staying outside'. It’s so fun."

Teddy Soares – Financial consultant and model

Hearthrob Teddy joined the villa and swept many of the girls off their feet, but he only had eyes for Faye.

The 26-year-old explained he worked as a senior financial consultant before he headed off to Majorca, and boasts an impressive career in the finance industry.

Manchester-based Teddy also has an interesting past as a model for a very well known clothing brand.

For three years during his time at university, the islander flexed his muscles for Abercrombie and Fitch.

Liam Reardon – Bricklayer

Welshman Liam is the villa's youngest male contestant, despite many people's confusion over the 6ft 6 hunk's actual age of 21.

The Merthyr Tydfil local, who has found love with Millie Court, works as a bricklayer, but he had his sights set on a lot more than manual labour in his hometown.

Speaking to ITV prior to entering the villa, Liam said: “Part of me wants to be wealthy and successful, part of me wants to be living by the beach, run a bar, something on a smaller scale and be happy.”

Millie Court – Fashion buying at ASOS

The nation's sweetheart, Millie, has won everyone over with her stunning personality and jaw-dropping fashion sense.

The blonde bombshell, 24, has had everyone gushing over her outfits, so it's no surprise she worked as a fashion buyer’s administrator for online shopping giant ASOS.

Speaking about her career, Millie said: "I've been a buyer's assistant for three years.

"I love my job. It's all involved with fashion. I studied fashion at university."

Kaz Kamwi – Influencer and blogger

Kaz is an influencer and fashion blogger who already boasted an incredibly 200k followers on Instagram before she was announced as an original Love Island contestant.

Her influencing career was pretty successful, with the 25-year-old frequently working with the likes of Primark and Iconic London.

She even released her own range with lifestyle company SkinnyDip.

Liberty Poole – Nando's waitress and student

Everyone's favourite Brummie, Liberty, used to work at the popular South African chicken restaurant, Nando's.

The stunning star worked part-time waitressing at the chain, alongside her studies at the University of Birmingham.

She is currently midway through a marketing degree, but will she head back to complete it after leaving the villa?

Chloe Burrows – Marketing executive

Chloe worked as a financial services marketing executive before finding fame on Love Island.

The blonde beauty, 25, mentioned in her pre-show VT that she'd previously had an affair with a man at work, but little is known about the details.

It's likely she will be bombarded with brand collaborations and TV appearance requests after leaving the villa due to her popularity on the show.

Tyler Cruickshank – Estate agent

Before his time as the villain's temporary villain, Tyler was working as an estate agent in Croydon.

He is also a law graduate, boasting a degree in the subject from St Mary’s University in London.

After he graduated, he proudly posted a picture of himself on Instagram and wrote: “Officially a Law graduate, it’s been a crazy journey but I wouldn’t have changed it for the world, I don’t really post much about my personal life but just know I’m not just a pretty face”.

Dale Mehmet – Barber and studio owner

Dale, 24, is a barber from Glasgow who set up and created his own studio.

Scotsman Dale revealed he'd taught himself how to cut and style hair and has already been seen getting to work on the Islanders and sorting out their locks.

Speaking about his career he said "you need a lot of people to practise on and who don’t mind you giving them a bad haircut."

He added: "There was a quite well-known barbers in Glasgow that I wanted to shadow and learn how these guys cut hair.

"I worked there for about two years and then I created my own studio and started on my own."

Abigail Rawlings – Tattoo artist

Bombshell Abigail works as a tattoo artist and has an impressive portfolio of work.

Originally from Beaconsfield, Bucks – she now lives in Bournemouth and has even tattooed Ashley Walters from Top Boy.

Speaking about her job, she said: "I got my apprenticeship when I was 18. I was at uni at the time and I dropped out to become a tattooist – my mum was livid! I’ve been doing it now for eight years.”

She used to be a professional gymnast and is the self-proclaimed "handstand master".

Mary Bedford – Influencer and fashion model

Unsurprisingly, 22-year-old Mary is a fashion model and influencer.

She has already modelled for the likes of ASOS, JD Women, Missy Empire and Boohoo.

The blonde has three YouTube channels and thousands of subscribers already.

Matthew MacNabb – Strategic marketing consultant

Matt, 26, from Belfast works as a strategic marketing consultant.

The tall Islander, who has connected with Kaz, has achieved a lot in his career already.

Speaking about his role, he said: "We started a marketing consultancy at Christmas time and it took off really quickly. I originally did law as my undergraduate and I’ve worked in investment banking and I did a Masters in business administration."

"I was working in California for a year and a half. I came back without a job and I started this company with some other marketing consultants."

Jake Cornish – Water engineer

Weston-super-Mare lad Jake is a water engineer who the supply of clean water, the disposal of wastewater and sewage and the prevention of flood damage.

He describes himself as a bit of a "handyman", but joked: "I’m a jack of all trades just not electrics! I don’t go near electrics.”

He has ambitions to own more properties and also open up his own restaurant in the future.

Toby Aromolaran – Semi-professional footballer

Toby is a 22-year-old semi-pro footballer from Essex.

Speaking about his career to he told ITV: "I’ve played football since I was about six, but it’s really come into a new light for the past year since I joined a team called Hashtag United.

"They’re very social media focused. Everything is on YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.

"Playing with them has really made me fall in love with the game again."

Hugo Hammond – PE teacher

Dumped islander Hugo graduated from Oxford Brookes University and went on to become a secondary school PE teacher at the prestigious Blundell’s School in Devon.

Speaking about his job, he said: “I teach secondary school PE. Absolutely love my job. I love all my sports.

"It’s great to be able to pass on that enthusiasm to be physically active to the younger generation and hopefully they feel the same about me teaching them.”

During his studies he was also was a cricketer for England PD (Physical Disability).

Sharon Gaffka – Civil servant and future lawyer

Sharon Gaffka, 25, was one of the most career-driven islanders, frequently mentioning how important her job was to her on the show.

After studying Law at Birbeck University, the former beauty queen nabbed a job at the Department of Transport as an Operations Lead, where she worked on the launch of the Test and Trace system.

She has "future lawyer" in her Instagram bio and is thought to be studying her LPC part time.

Back in 2018 when she took part in pageants, she was crowned Miss International United Kingdom.
