Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Halloween Kills, the forthcoming sequel to David Gordon Green‘s Halloween and the 12th installment to the movie franchise.
Green, lauded for directing the 2008 comedy Pineapple Express, has evolved into a horror mastermind, moving into the genre as the director and co-writer for the entire trilogy of new Halloween films.
Nick Castle, who played Michael Myers in the original 1978 Halloween movie, has returned to embody the infamous slasher with stunt double James Jude Courtney. Returning from the 2018 film, Laurie, her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), who thought they had terminated Meyers in the last movie, discover their lifelong menace is still very much alive and must assemble a mob of survivors to hunt him down for good.
The film costars Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, Thomas Mann (Kong: Skull Island), and Anthony Michael Hall (The Dark Night). Additionally, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards appears to reprise her role as Lindsay from the original film in the trailer.
Halloween Kills will hit theaters on October 15, 2021. The third and final installment to Green’s trilogy, Halloween Ends, is set to premiere on October 14, 2022.
