Mum thinks she's ordered a bargain set of drawers, isn't happy when they arrive

A lesson to us all: if you see something online that’s such a bargain it feels too good to be true, it probably is.

That’s what Siobhan McKnight learned this week.

The complex care worker, from Belfast but living in Wakefield, thought she had found a cracking deal when she spotted a chest of drawers for £16.99, down from £29.99, on Groupon.

She reckoned they would be the perfect bit of storage for the dining room.

But when the piece of furniture arrived in the post, Siobhan realised she had made a mistake.

The chest of drawers was teeny-tiny – about the size of a small wine bottle.

Thankfully Siobhan has been able to laugh at the mishap, sharing photos of her bargain buy in the DIY On A Budget Facebook group with the caption: ‘Thought I’d give you all a giggle… bought what I thought was the bargain of the year on Groupon, chest of drawers for £16.99.

‘Me being me didn’t bother to look at sizes etc. Looked big in the pictures.’

Siobhan, who says she’s ‘old enough to know I should read dimensions’, tells us that she plans to make use of the drawers somehow, perhaps for her daughter’s makeup storage, but for now they’re sitting in the dining room.

‘I did think they were cheap but Groupon do random sales so wasn’t overly concerned,’ Siobhan tells Metro.co.uk. ‘I liked the look of them as the picture did make them look much bigger.

‘I’m glad I’ve been able to put a smile on so many faces.’

At least Siobhan knows she’s not the only one to have a mixup with a product’s dimensions – her post has been flooded with comments from other people who’ve done the same thing.

Oh, and the drawers in question are currently sold out on Groupon… so we’ll have to wait for all the other posts from people who expected something a bit larger.
