Stacey Solomon has been busy renovating her gorgeous £1.2million home lovingly named “Pickle Cottage”.

The 31-year-old, who recently transformed the fireplace in Rex’s bedroom, has given her 4.3 million Instagram followers an update on the space for her adorable one-year-old.

Taking to her Instagram story, Stacey revealed how she decided to do a “sectioned wall” to create a stunning feature in the bedroom.

The mum-of-three used green tape to section the wall into three triangles before painting them to create a geometric feature.

Rex, who Stacey shares with Joe Swash, 39, was also eager to get into the DIY task and was seen dipping a roller into the paint tray before applying it to the wall.

While Stacey filmed Rex painting, she said: “I thought while he was covered in milk, he could help me do some painting in his room.

“I am obviously hoping that this is all going to blend in, but, if I am honest, it is not looking promising!”

The Tap to Tidy author did a time-lapse video of her applying the tape before painting one section in light grey and a second in a darker hue while leaving the top triangle white.

Captioning the reel, she said: "Decided to do a little sectioned wall in Rex’s room. Frog taped the sections I wanted.

“I just guessed to be honest. I kept stepping back and looking at it and then changing it until it felt right."

Speaking about the process, Stacey told her followers: “This was me mid trying to get the tape straight and in the right place.

“My advice to anyone thinking of doing this – persevere and keep stepping right back so you can get a good perspective on it.

“And if you can’t get it straight, maybe pencil a line first with a spirit level.”

Stacey added: “I did dark grey, light grey and then left one section white. Then I painted the skirting white so it would contrast the greys.”

The result looked incredible as Stacey satisfyingly peeled off the tape to reveal the sharp straight lines.

She penned: “Peeling the tape off gave me actual goosebumps. These are the things that keep me going.”

The beauty added a collection of animal wall stickers to the white section but revealed that she “ran out” during the process.

In true Stacey style she did a “tap to tidy” and captured the blank white wall before revealing the gorgeous feature wall that created a warm feel to the space.

The former X Factor star also revealed two star light fixtures to add a warm glow to Rex’s bedroom.

She said: “I finally got him clean and now we are putting up these infinity rainbow lights I bought.

“I thought I’d do his room black white and grey and have hidden rainbows and colours for him to discover and play.”
