News presenter Dan Walker and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova were one of the duos to take to the dancefloor and be watched in awe. Dan recently admitted his wife held her breath as he performed on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Dan and Nadiya joined Janetta Manara on a recent episode of the Strictly Come Dancing spin-off, It Takes Two.
They discussed their performance and all the preparations ahead of the upcoming Halloween themed show.
As Dan gushed about the positive feedback he received for his take on the Viennese Waltz, Janette quizzed him on the special performance.
She asked: “It was really special because it was your wife Sarah’s favourite song, she was in the audience, did you feel pressure to make sure you delivered it just right?”

“She did say to me, she didn’t breathe for the entire second,” he laughed.
Dan explained: “I think it was the build-up, the fact that Nadiya choreographed it with that in mind, I suppose there was a bit of pressure.”
The news presenter went on to describe the moment it clicked for him, speaking to Janette he asked: “Remember last week I told you we had a ballroom breakthrough?
“I genuinely felt like it was just us two out there, I forgot where I was and I was just concentrating on the dance and making sure it was good,” he concluded.
Their rendition of the Vienesse Waltz to She Always a Woman by Billy Joel appeared to be a hit with the judges as he scored 28 points – the highest in his Strictly journey so far.
At the end of his performance, he took a moment to “gush” over his wife Sarah.
Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman he said: “She’s one of those people the more you know her, the more you love her, and I’ve known her and loved her for over half my life.”
Viewers got to see her reaction, as the camera panned to her, as she sat in the studio audience.
Dan continued: “There she is, she’s such a special person and I love her to bits. I hope she enjoyed that because we really loved that.”
After his performance, judge Shirley Ballas said: “You are elegant. I would like a bit more belief from yourself but you are turning into quite the dancer.
“Thank you so much for opening our show with such a beautiful performance,” she added.
Motsi Mabuse told the news presenter: “Don’t be afraid to push, push, push and you will get there.”
While newly appointed judge Anton Du Beke commented: “It was nearly perfect.
As Nadiya and Dan made it through the next round, sadly rugby player Ugo Monye was forced to hang up his dancing shoes.
After failing to impress the judges with the Rumba, he was eliminated from the competition alongside professional partner Oti Mabuse.
With the competition heating, fans will have to wait until Halloween week to find out if Dan will continue to the next round or if he will have to fight for a spot in the dance-off.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday 7 pm on BBC One.
