EastEnders fans have worked out a huge paternity twist in store for Sharon and Alyssa after the bombshell revelation Dennis Jr was her father earlier this week.

The 13-year-old died last year in a boating tragedy, and young mum Jada admitted to Sharon that he was the father of her baby – leaving her shell-shocked.

On Thursday, Jada admitted: "It was a one-off. We were friends but it was never really more than that."

But fans are sure there could be another huge twist in store for impromptu mum Sharon, as they reckon Jada could be lying about the whole thing.

Taking to social media, one eagle-eyed fan wrote: "I don't understand, Dennis died in February last year and Alyssa looks only a few months old. Either Jada had a very long pregnancy or Dennis ain't the father at all!"

Someone else agreed: "Wait, exactly how old is Jada? Cos Dennis Jr was only 13. Surely she would have read about his death in the paper/online months ago? He never even lived in that flat in the first place either #Eastenders."

As another fan chimed in: "Wouldn’t Zack’s DNA test have shown they were related but not close enough relatives to be the father of Alyssa?

"I mean Zack is a Dennis’ uncle and half brother of Sharon so he will share DNA with the baby just not as much as a father would."

Later in Thursday's episode, Sharon seemed to be coming around to the idea of being a grandma, as she told baby Alyssa: "Hello sweetheart. You're my Denny's little girl, and that makes you family.

"Now, your mummy is welcome here any time, but me and your great uncle Zack… we're going to look after you. I'm not going to let you go anywhere."

Fans were tearing up around the country as she said: "Welcome home, sweetie."

Jada and Sharon had been embroiled in a heated exchange when the 'truth' came out, as she railed at Sharon: "I should've known you'd be like this – Dennis was right about you.

"I know he hated you. I'm not going to stand here and let her call me a liar.

"You cheated on your old man and broke up the family so you could play cougar. He thought it was disgusting."

She went on: "He was embarrassed and ashamed. He didn't even want to live with you. I'm the only person he told.

"She's your granddaughter. And if you don't want to look after her – call social services because I've got nothing left."

But whether there could be a huge twist in store or Jada is telling the truth, only time will tell.
