Emmerdale Mimi Slingers life off-screen – growing up abroad to modelling deal

Mimi Slinger played the blonde beauty Leanna in Emmerdale, before the character tragically met her demise earlier this month.

The actress first appeared on our screens in 2018 when she walked into the village of Emmerdale as the cheeky schoolgirl and daughter of the local GP.

Mimi's character Leanna started off as a nuisance teen who cased trouble and seemed a bit of brat.

But as the years went on and Leanna grew up, viewers warmed to Doctor Cavanagh's daughter as she started to show her nicer, more friendly side.

In an episode earlier this month, Leanna tragically fell to her death after getting into an altercation with Meena, the new killer in the Dales.

Meena brutally killed Leanna Cavanagh by pushing her over a nearby bridge in the village.

The altercation came after Leanna discovered the truth about the murder of Meena's old friend Nadine after rummaging through her memory box full of "trophies".

"Leanna is a troublemaker and loves the attention that comes with it," she told Digital Spy last year.

"She's that stereotypical mean girl who creates drama to keep her position.

"Unlike Leanna I was not a troublemaker but definitely could be a bit cheeky on occasion!

"Leanna and people like her would definitely be the sort that I'd steer away from. She's someone I'd find it difficult to be friends with on some levels.

"She's got a hard exterior because of everything she's been through. That hard facade causes her to almost bully and disregard other people's feelings too often.

"I personally couldn't support this because I've experienced unkindness from bullies and I've seen its effects on others."

Mimi actually grew up in Singapore but she attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London when she and her family moved back to England when she was just 11.

She then went on to play the role of Brigitta Von Trapp on stage in The Sound of Music.

The blonde-beauty landed her first major TV role as Leanna in Emmerdale.

When she's not acting, Mimi loves keeping her followers updated on Instagram.

Quite the poser, Mimi posts lots of photos of herself and has even recently signed with modelling agency Storm Management.

Mimi can often be seen posing up a storm with her luscious blonde locks styled sleekly and a fresh face of glamorous makeup, usually with a pink or nude lip.

With almost 50,000 followers, the blonde bombshell is adored by followers and fans.

Mimi will be sorely missed in the ITV soap, with some of her doting fans commenting on her Instagram posts in the aftermath of her Emmerdale exit.

One fan wrote: "Gonna miss your beautiful smile… hope you’re back in something soon."

Another penned: "I still can’t believe that you’ve been killed off in your role in Emmerdale. Hopefully it’s not too long before you’re back on our screens in an even bigger role."

A third wrote: "I’m really not happy with the Emmerdale story line."

While a forth said: "Wish you could have just gone off on your travels not killed by Meena hope she's caught soon. Good luck on your new adventure."

Johnny McPherson, who plays Leanna's dad and resident Dales doctor Liam in the popular ITV soap, previously opened up about his close father and daughter bond with his co-star Mimi.

He appeared on Lorraine this month and was asked if he had a close bond with the former Emmerdale actress, he replied: "I do.

"I've been Mimi's fake dad since she was 15 so for around three years now, and to watch them grow at that time.

"Also, all the scenes that you do, you are playing the part of a father so you sort of necessarily develop parental feelings.

"She is just a wonderful, wonderful girl. I feel very protective of her."

We wonder what Mimi will get up to next, but what ever it is, we're sure she is going to do just fine!

Emmerdale continues on Monday at 7pm on ITV and ITVHub.
