What happened at the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier?
April 23 marked the end of the first season of Falcon and the Winter Soldier and it was a bittersweet moment for fans.
The episode was called One World, One People and it saw Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) embrace his new Captain America role.
The final instalment also saw newcomer John Walker (Wyatt Russell) take a new path after he was publicly shamed for killing a Flag Smasher.
Fans will be keen to find out what happens to him as he is working under a new boss.
A post-credit scene also showed Agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) return after she had been on the run since Captain America: Civil War.
Sharon was identified as Power Broker, the leading light controlling the Flag Smashers, proving she has switched sides.
Meanwhile, Walker had helped Sam and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) defeat the Flag Smashers and he took on a new persona.
He started working for Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), who warned things were “about to get weird”.
In the comics, she is a Russian sleeper agent who infiltrated Hydra, but her identity in the series remains a mystery.
The series ended with Sam and Bucky enjoying some family time in Louisiana.
The show seemed to end on a happy note and included a surprise in the credits.
The show’s title changed from Falcon and the Winter Soldier to Captain America and the Winter Soldier.
Fans had wondered whether Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) would make an appearance in the final episode, but sadly he did not.
Regarding Sam, the world now knows he is the next Captain America and he is adamant about defending rather than fighting.
As for Bucky, he came to terms with his dark past and thanked his therapist for helping him overcome it.
Fans will be wondering whether the Flag Smashers will return for a second season, as it appears they are all dead.
Sharon Carter suggested more danger would be on the way, so another version of the villainous group could emerge.
Viewers had suggested the next season may be renamed Captain America and the White Wolf.
Season two has not been given the green light yet, but there are definitely talks happening.
Fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the season finale and what it means for season two.
One fan said: “Every part of the series is unforgettable. Loved this series too much and finally Bucky told about that old man’s boy death that part was so good. Now waiting what will Agent Carter do.” [Sic]
Another added: “Best series but I expected more Bucky content in the finale. Wanted to see him as White wolf.
“Mystery is trade mark of Zemo it seems. Still can’t understand which side he actually is. Thanks for the memories.” [Sic]
A third viewer said: “A perfect way to end this season!! I’m crying happy tears. I love this show so much, and I really hope there’s a second season!”
