Holly Willoughby gasps in horror as Alan Titchmarsh nearly uses F-word live on This Morning – The Sun

HOLLY Willoughby was left gasping and covering her mouth in horror – as mild-mannered gardener Alan Titchmarsh threatened to unleash the F-bomb.

The 39-year-old host and co-star Phillip Schofield, 57, were shocked when the veteran TV star recited a poem on This Morning today.

Regaling the pair with a rude ditty about marigold flowers, the 70-year-old said: "When it comes to colour, I've got it by the bucket.

"And if you don't like orange flowers and I can say is…"

At that point, there was a sharp intake of breath around the studio as everyone braced themselves for the words "f*** it", before he concluded: "What a shame."

The pair gasped with relief, as Holly squealed: "I was like… Alan Titchmarsh, surely not."

However, viewers were delighted, with one tweeting: "Alan Titchmarsh is such a national treasure."

The Ground Force star was on the show to promote his new book, Marigolds, Myrtle And Moles: A Gardener's Bedside Book.

Alan has been a TV fixture for years, appearing as the gardening expert in Nationwide in the 80s, before hosting the BBC's long-running Pebble Mill At One show in 1991.

The chat show ran for five years, with hosting gigs on Gardeners' World, Ground Force and Songs of Praise following.
