CBS launched the latest entry in the hugely popular NCIS franchise last year, and viewers already can’t get enough of the fledgling romance between Pearl Harbour agent Lucy Tara (played by Yasmine Al-Bustami) and the FBI’s Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson). Unfortunately, it seems the NCIS: Hawaii office romance is over before it’s barely begun.

Lucy and Kate are butting heads yet again in a brand new sneak peek at the upcoming episode of NCIS: Hawaii, Spies: Part One.

The popular CBS spin-off will return on Sunday after the bombshells in last week’s edition, The Game.

After surviving her first undercover mission, Lucy finally gets some alone time with Kate but ends up getting a nasty surprise.

It turns out Kate’s girlfriend Cara (Juliana Folk) wasn’t quite out of the picture, as the relationship hadn’t been officially broken off when the agent relocated.

Rookie agent Lucy was left distraught by Kate’s confession, and will finally get a chance to confront the lies in the next episode.

A new clip from Sunday’s instalment has revealed their first fight after last week’s shocking turn of events.

Kate catches up to Lucy in the street, who, at first, is reluctant to talk the situation over.

“I should have told you about Cara,” she admits.

Lucy wholeheartedly agreed, and shot back: “I don’t want to hear what you should have done.

“You were not honest. And that doesn’t work for me.”

Lucy appeared to consider the relationship over and turned to walk away from a bereaved Kate.

However, her now ex-girlfriend pulled her back, asking: “So that’s it? You just throw away whatever this was that easily?”

The two agents had only just started dating in the first few episodes of NCIS: Hawaii and had finally managed to make dinner plans.

Although their busy careers and the complexities of office romance threatened to stop the romance in its tracks, viewers were all rooting for the pair to make it work.

Unfortunately, Kate struggled to open up to her new partner, and her dishonesty may have cost her the love of Pearl Harbour’s stunning new agent.

Lucy clarified the decision wasn’t easy, and Kate was the one who threw her chance away by lying.

The tearful agent turned to head back to the office while Kate followed behind her.

“Can I make it any clearer?” Lucy snaps, to which Kate insists she’s not following her as she had received a call from Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey).

While it seems Lucy has put her foot down, hopefully, the two agents can remain on good terms in the office and potentially even give their relationship another shot down the line.

NCIS: Hawaii season 1 continues Monday, January 24 on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
