PHILLIP Schofield couldn't contain his excitement on a family night out to watch Wicked in the West End.

The This Morning star, 60, got himself comfy inside the Apollo Victoria Theatre with a glass of gin, alongside daughters Molly and Ruby and wife of 29 years Steph.

Over the top of a picture of the stage, he wrote: "Wicked has been such an important musical for our fam – and this brilliantly British twist is brilliant!!"

He paid tribute to Elphaba and Glinda actresses Lucie Jones and Helen Woolf, calling them "amazing".

The TV star turned his attention to his grown-up daughters, who couldn't resist singing along to the famous soundtrack.

Phillip said: "My girls literally fizzing with joy."

The presenter has personal ties to the theatre industry. In 1991 he made his West End debut in the title role in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, taking over from Jason Donovan. He also played the lead role in Dr Doolittle seven years later.

Phillip has remained close to wife Steph after announcing he was gay in 2020.

Coming out to the nation, he released an emotional statement on Instagram in which he hinted at the pain his hitherto closeted sexuality had caused his wife.

In it he wrote: “With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay. This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home.
