Starz is growing the Power franchise rapidly after announcing a slew of spin-off series. In a ground-breaking move, Starz revealed four new shows set within the Power universe. Will Omar Epps play Breeze in Power Book 3?

Details have started to emerge about each of the spin-offs, including Book III: Raising Kanan.

After the Power series finale, fans got a stinger, post-credits scene which looked like it was from Raising Kanan.

The short scene set in 1996 featured young versions of the main characters including Ghost (Chris Sumpter) in his younger years, a young Tommy (Ethan Cutkowsky) and a teen Angela (Camila Perez).

Also, the scene made mention of Kanan but the character was absent from the scene.

Subsequently, Starz confirmed Mekai Curtis would be taking on the role of a young Kanan Stark.

Other cast members include Patina Miller as Kanan’s mother Raq with more actors expected to be announced in due course.

Most recently, Deadline reported Epps would be joining Raising Kanan back in February 2020.

However, the publication didn’t have any details about the character Epps would be portraying in the show.

But did state Epps would be “playing a major figure in the Power cannon”, which could suggest he will be taking on the part of the enigmatic Breeze.

Most of the other announced castings on Raising Kanan have also had character details attached to them.

Given the lack of details around the character details for Epps, could suggest his part is going to be a key one and a surprise to fans.

As Power fans know, Breeze is almost a figure of lore within the drama – simply referenced but never seen in the show.

Breeze was a drug dealer who knew Kanan Stark (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) and James “Ghost” St Patrick (Omari Hardwick) before the events of Power.

However, he was slain by Ghost as the upcoming drug dealer sought to take over from his mentor and his territory.

Ghost assassinated Breeze while he was sitting watching television, delivering a shot to the head.

Later on, Kanan planned to murder Ghost’s son Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) in the exact spot Breeze was killed.

But Kanan had a change of heart and didn’t go through with the killing after all but instead took Tariq under his wing.

There have been many theories about Breeze with some believing he was Ghost’s father after the New York kingpin spoke of him with Tariq in season six.

Moreover, there have been theories Kanan could be Tariq’s father but again this is all speculation.

Nevertheless, it’s clear Raising Kanan will be building on the story of Breeze, who had a huge part to play in the lives of both Kanan and Ghost.

The father-like figure of Breeze will be crucial to the formation of these two characters as well as their relationship as viewers saw them in Power.
