It will become clear tonight that Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has well and truly met his match in sinister corrupt cop DI Malone (Mark Womack) – and Emmerdale star Jeff certainly agrees that this is the first adversary in some time capable of toppling Cain.
But as the battle lines are drawn tonight, Malone forces Cain to do his bidding alongside Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) – but Cain soon decides to fight fire with fire and comes up with a risky plot. But is it enough to get rid of Malone?
Jeff explained: ‘Cain wants to try and get one over on him. He sees blood in the back of the car and a plan begins to form over how he can get rid of Malone.
‘Cain is trying to stay one step ahead of Malone and almost play him at his own game. He’s shocked when he sees the blood stain, but in that moment, the plan formulates to be able to double-cross Malone.
‘Each time Cain thinks he’s going to get rid of Malone, Malone keeps coming back at him. It’s like two fighters slugging it out! Once Cain thinks he can deal with him, Malone comes back and there’s always another hurdle to jump.’
He added: ‘It’s great to work with Mark Womack, as he’s fantastic. He’s great to bounce off and we’ve had great fun doing these scenes. We’ve been working in some great locations and there have been a lot of stand-offs.
‘Cain hasn’t been in situations like this for a while, so it’s nice to get his old DNA back. Most definitely Cain has met his match.’
