A MAN has been charged with the murder of singer Eddy Grant's niece after she died in an alleged arson attack.

Denise Keane-Barnett-Simmons, 36, was pulled from the burning home in Brent, North London, on April 16 but later died in hospital.

Damion Simmons has now been charged with murdering Denise, whose mother was married to Electric Avenue singer Eddy's brother.

The 44-year-old was also charged with disclosing private and sexual photographs with intent to cause distress, voyeurism and arson with intent to endanger life.

He is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court later today.

Firefighters were scrambled to the scene at around 2.15am last Thursday after the home erupted in flames.

Denise was pulled to safety but tragically couldn't be saved and died less than four hours later.

A post-mortem examination gave her cause of death as burns and inhalation of fire fumes.
