Married nursery worker, 20, accused of sex with boy, 13, and having his baby claims he raped her – The Sun

A MARRIED nursery worker accused of having sex with a 13-year-old boy has claimed that he RAPED her after she had his baby, a jury heard today.

Leah Cordice, 20, of Windsor, Berks., was reduced to tears at Reading Crown Court after prosecutors branded her a liar.

Cordice previously denied having had any sexual contact with the boy when she was aged 17 and 18 until a DNA test showed that he was the father of her child.

She then claimed that she had been raped multiple times by the 13-year-old, the jury heard.

Prosecuting barrister Grace Ong accused the young mother of making up the rape story to get herself out of trouble.

She said: "You are the liar in this case.

“You lied to the police when you said in March 2017 that you had never had sex with the boy.

“You lied to the family court when you told them you had been raped.

"You are an outspoken young woman, you are not afraid of anyone. You are not afraid of me, you are not afraid of the young boy.”

Mr Ong accused Cordice of being “outspoken” and suggested she would have “never kept her mouth shut” if she had been assaulted by the boy.

She said: “In the time you have been in the witness box, you not only just answered back but also made sure you spoke and that your voice was heard.

"If this is what really happened to you, if he was really raping you, you would never have kept your mouth shut would you?"

The jury of seven men and five women heard how Cordice confided in her best friend about having intercourse with the child but had not told her she had been raped.

Cordice told the jury: “I do not like talking about it. I would rather keep it to myself. I was scared of me being in trouble because I was older. They would have seen him as the victim."

The jury heard that in March 2017 – shortly after the first time the pair had sex – gossip of the affair had spread throughout Cordice's social circle.

Her concerned friend reported the news to the nursery where she worked.

Her email read: "I just wanted to inform you that one of your employees should not be allowed around kids as she has had sex with a 13-year-old boy.”

Following this report, the court heard police evidence which stated that Cordice was "adamant the allegation was malicious" and stated she might want to prosecute the friend for telling lies.

The jury heard how the friend was issued with a harassment warning and a penalty notice for disorder, for wasting police time.

The prosecutor told Cordice today: "Is it the case that you will stop at nothing trying to get people who tell the truth into trouble?

"I am going to suggest to you that you had a perfectly consensual and willing sexual relationship with the 13-year-old boy and I am going to suggest that when you are faced with accusations that you don’t like, you tend to blame people.

“He is four years younger than you. You know it is illegal to have sex with somebody who is under 16 but you fancied him.”

The 20-year-old rebutted the suggestion and refused to accept that she found the child attractive insisting “he was like my brother.”

Cordice later said: "I am telling the truth, I have not lied."

She denies five counts of sexual activity with a child, three which were said to have taken place while she was aged 17 years and two while she was 18 years old.

The trial continues next week.
